The investiture of Mr Ben de Jong

It is with great pleasure that I write to applaud the investiture of Mr Ben de Jong as a Life Governor of the Cromwell College Board of Governors.

I first met Ben when his name was given to me as a possible advisor on fund raising for the College, but it did not take long to realise that I had been directed to a wise and godly man with much to share, not only in relation to fund raising, but in many other matters as well.

Gradually our association grew and I met him from time to time when I visited my daughter’s church in Ashgrove. Then I had the privilege of nominating Ben for the Board a role he accepted with pleasure and to which he made a wonderful contribution.

Ben has now had a long association with the College, including time as the Board Chair, and has always presented himself as a man who genuinely cares for people and the College. This generous self-giving flows not just from who he is as a person but from his deep Christian conviction and personal faith.  Ben is a genuinely good man, a man of integrity who has given a great deal to the College, not just in my time, but I’m sure in the period since I left in 2010.

Ben, of course, is wonderfully supported by his wife Gail and together they are a couple I could always turn to and trust. I thank them for who they are and what they have contributed and am thrilled that Ben has been made a Life Governor.
