Hamish Lemmey Heads to Oxford

Following the stories of our Alumni is an important part of keeping our community connected. One of our COCA members, Hamish Lemmey, is about to start an exciting new chapter of his life at Oxford University.

Hamish, who was at Cromwell from 2011-2012, returned to Australia in October of 2014 having completed his last year of his University of Queensland Bachelor of Science, with an external Honours project at the University of Oxford. Having received a First Class Honours, Hamish has now been given a scholarship by the British Heart Foundation to complete a 4 year DPhil in Cardiovascular Science with the Medical Sciences Doctoral Training Centre, at the University of Oxford. Hamish is the first person outside of Europe to be awarded this scholarship.

Although still a Crommie at heart, Hamish will be residing at Magdalen College. Magdalen College was founded in 1458, and boasts a large list of alumni, with the likes of Malcolm Fraser, Oscar Wilde, Andrew Lloyd Webber and C S Lewis having passed through the halls, to name a few.

Hamish’s sister Annabel is currently in her first year of University and is also a member of Cromwell College, carrying on the many family legacies that have been made here at Cromwell.

Everyone at Cromwell and COCA want to wish Hamish the best of luck in this next step of his academic career.
