A highlight each year is the Academic Dinner which was held on Tuesday 21 August 2018.
The guest speaker for this year’s Academic Dinner was Professor Peter Greste, an academic and journalist with more than 25 years of experience as a foreign correspondent for some of the world’s most respected broadcasters. He currently occupies the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication at the University of Queensland, though he is best known for his stand in defence of press freedom while he was imprisoned in Egypt on terrorism charges through 2014.
Cromwell students performed well academically this past semester with the College Grade Point Average being 5.16. There were four students who achieved the perfect score of 7 (GPA 7.0) for every course they studied and congratulations go to these students:
- Jasmine Burr (B Engineering Honours)
- Corinne Henriksen (B Speech Pathology Honours)
- Cameron Kroon (B Engineering Honours /B Economics)
- Hamish Williams (B Commerce)
In total, there were 64 students who received a GPA of 6.00 or better and 153 students who received a GPA of 5.00 or better in Semester One 2018.
