Academic Support

At Cromwell College, we provide comprehensive academic support to help our students thrive in their university studies. Our dedicated team, led by Mr. Michael Crome, Deputy Principal of Academics and Operations, is committed to guiding students through the challenges of university life.

Our academic support structure includes:

Leadership Team

  • Deputy Principal of Academics and Operations: Mr. Michael Crome
  • Senior Academic Mentor: Emma Parton

  • Six Academic Mentors representing different faculties

Personalised Support

From day one, our team offers tailored academic assistance. We conduct regular check-ins to ensure students stay on track with their degrees, providing additional support such as tutorials or assistance with academic exemptions when needed.

Academic Mentors

Our Academic Mentors are faculty-specific experts ready to assist you on-site:

  • Business, Economics and Law (BEL): James Wei
  • Engineering, Architecture & Information Technology (EAIT): Ellora Gupta and Elizabeth Hill

  • Health, Medicine, and Behavioural Sciences (HMBS): Mia van Heerden

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS): Georgia Conrad

  • Science: Matthew Wang

Student academic mentors offer valuable support outside of regular classes, providing a range of assistance to help students succeed in their academic journey:

  1. Study skills guidance: Mentors can help with developing effective study techniques, note-taking strategies, time management, and organization skills.

  1. University life adaptation: Mentors assist new students in settling into university life, including navigating both virtual and physical campuses.

  1. Networking and connections: They can help students connect with faculty members, the broader university community, and even external professionals.

  1. Emotional support: As peers, mentors provide a friendly face on campus and can be a source of encouragement and motivation.

  1. Referrals to specialized services: While not experts in everything, mentors can guide students to appropriate support services when needed

Having student academic mentors around who students can reach out to anytime is a huge help – they’re a friendly, approachable resource that makes studying easier and creates a real sense of support and community.
