Congratulations to 2nd-year Cromwell student, Rohan Hickey, who achieved two podium finishes in the Australian Age Group Triathlon Championships, held in Townsville, over the weekend. Rohan placed 3rd in his age group, in both the aquathlon (1km swim, 5km run) and sprint duathlon (5km run, 20km ride, 2.5km run).
Rohan faced a field of about 30 competitors in each of his events in the Townsville Triathlon and Multisport Festival.
Rohan: “It was heaps of fun racing against some of the best athletes in Australia and I was really happy to come away with a couple of podium finishes.”
Living at Cromwell College, on-campus at UQ has given Rohan some unique training advantages.
Rohan: “It makes it so easy to train with the UQ track and pool being so close, and with easy access to great routes for running and cycling along the river. I am very keen for the ICC swimming and athletics carnivals both coming up in a few weeks!”
