Farewell to Scotty!

Today we farewelled our second longest serving staff member, Scott Harland. Scott joined the Catering Team at Cromwell early in 2011. At that time, the Brisbane floods had recently occurred and the Begbie building, partially as a result, was still under construction. To me, Scott was far more than an employee who just came to work and did their job. He embraced the College as one where people were the most important feature, and he went about building relationships with his colleagues and students. Scott was a regular cheerful presence at the dish washing machine, always interacting with students at every opportunity as they passed their plates through. He and his wife Angie regularly took time outside his working hours to come along to Commencement, Academic and Valedictory Dinners to support the students. Scott was a regular supporter of ICC events, and could often be seen, again outside working hours,  cheering Cromwell teams at nights and weekends alongside the students. In turn, the students held Scott in very high regard as they knew he cared for them. Scott was also a wealth of information about wine, and he would often tell me of the latest good quality red to try! Scott departs to become a full time house husband caring for his family as Angie commences full time work. Although no longer employed at Cromwell, Scott has assured me that he will still drop in from time to time; something that we all will value greatly. The whole Cromwell community wishes Scott, Angie and their family every possible success for the future. Thank you for seven years of dedicated service to the Cromwell community Scotty.
