Dr John Harrison talks technology

On 10th May our guest speaker for the evening was Dr John HarrisonJohn holds a PhD in Computer Science, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. He lectured at the University of Queensland for 8 years and taught thousands of UQ students within UQ's School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. After UQ, he joined a start-up software company based in Silicon Valley (California).  Currently John oversees information security at a large government organisation. He spoke about the impact technology has had on both individuals and the way that businesses are conducted today. In particular the issue of data security, and the ease by which private information can be accessed by individuals, was of great interest and of major concern to listeners.
