An Afternoon with Nina Funnell

On Friday 26th October, members of Cromwell College incoming Executive, RA’s and O-Week Committee representatives, as well as students in similar positions at other colleges at UQ, attended a talk at St Leo’s College by Ms Nina Funnell, author of the Red Zone Report.

Nina was quite inspirational in her address giving an account of a situation where she was assaulted as a 23 year old and the work she has done from that moment that has resulted in her devoting much of her working life to addressing issues associated with the Sexual Assault / Harassment of women. Nina’s work and writings have been published in academic journals, newspapers, magazines and on online news sites. She has also authored multiple book chapters and is the co-author of Loveability: An Empowered Girls Guide to Dating and Relationships

Given the topical nature of the Respect Now Always agenda at universities across Australia, and the  Red Zone Report, the talk provided our 2019 leaders with an invaluable insight into the work that still needs to be done both within the university college environment but also within society in general. Cromwell College is hoping to have Nina speak at a formal dinner early in the new year.
